About the fragrance
Despite the name, this is no cocktail garnish. Montale Aoud Lime is a spicy, woody oud that begins with a sharp edge and then softens into rose and sandalwood, more like a polished antique box than a glass of something cold.
The first minutes are the bracing part: agarwood and saffron hit together, with patchouli leaf adding a green, almost medicinal bite. Give it time and the mood changes. Indian rose and Italian iris come through, powdery and sweetish, and amber with sandalwood rounds the whole thing into something warm and steady that sits close for hours.
It is unisex in practice and works best in cool weather, at dinners or evenings where a bit of presence is welcome. The opening is the hurdle: some people love that rough start, others never get past it. That gap between the first ten minutes and the drydown is exactly why a decant makes more sense here than a blind purchase.
