First of all, it is worth noting that fans of Viktor & Rolf perfume are mostly lovers of very expressive fragrances and people who like the attention. Usually, the use of these colognes is like a cherry on a cake. Viktor & Rolf shows are striking and intriguing, demonstrating beauty, tenderness and some rebellion at the same time. If you are ever in Milan, find time to visit a branded store in which everything is upside down. And don’t think that this is just a special design trick to attract customers. No. It is rather a reflection of the entire philosophy of the brand and the ingenuity of its founders.
Victor & Rolf is a Dutch fashion brand founded by designers Victor Horsting and Rolf Sneren in 1993. The brand name combines the names of its two founders. The logo looks like a wax seal with the initials V&R. From the very beginning, the brand’s fashion collections were distinguished by sculptural and complex decor. One of the most recognizable works of the duo were dresses with a dissected skirt (spring-summer 2010 collection) and super—voluminous ones with slogans like “No Photos Please”, “I am My Own Muse” and “Give a Damn” that quickly became the basis for numerous memes in 2019.
It is believed that the perfume story of the brand began in 2005 with the launch of Flowerbomb, but this is only partially true. In 1996, being on the verge of bankruptcy, the duo released a limited edition of Le Parfum, an odorless liquid painted bright green, whose bottle could not be opened. Thus, the designers commented on the state of affairs in the fashion business.
In 2003, the brand sold a license to produce perfumes to L’Oreal, and 2 years later Flowerbomb appeared in stores — a floral gourmet fragrance in a pomegranate bottle, which Olivier Polge, Carlos Benaim, Domiti Berthier and Dominique Ropion worked on. For almost 20 years, the aroma composition has acquired several dozen flankers and limited editions and it remains one of the brand’s bestsellers among colognes.
Up until 2012, the brand’s perfume division was mainly engaged in the development of the Flowerbomb franchise, while managing to show one more fragrance the Antidote in a limited edition. According to the creators, perfume should play the role of an antidote to fatal passion. It also echoes the creative credo of the fashion duo, which sounds like this: “For us, fashion is an antidote to reality”.
In 2012, a Spicebomb joined Flowerbomb, and in 2014, on the wave of popularity of colognes, the brand introduced a new flagship called Bonbon. Two years later, in 2016, the brand has an aroma line Magic Collection, inspired, as the designers themselves say, by everyday magic and the magic of transformation.
To choose a scent that complements you is not as easy as you may think. If at least one note in the aroma bouquet is superfluous, then the fragrance is not yours, will not emphasize your individuality. That is the reason why we are ready to order samples decanted from the original authentic perfume bottle.
