About the fragrance
Tar, smoke and worn leather in a dim room: Aoud Cuir d'Arabie is about as dark and uncompromising as oud-leather gets.
Only four notes are listed, and every one of them leans heavy. Birch wood sets the tone with a smoky, almost tarry bite, agarwood lays a resinous oud layer beneath it, and leather and tobacco come forward as the opening calms down. The first blast is intense; over time it smooths out into a dense, velvety leather with a faintly animal warmth that keeps it from ever feeling polite.
Made for both women and men, this is cold-weather evening wear for people who already know they like smoke and leather. Newcomers to oud would be better served starting with Aoud Lemon Mint. A full bottle of something this potent can sit unused for months, which is why many will find a 5 ml decant the more realistic size even after they fall for it.
