About the fragrance
Late-afternoon light on a stone terrace, a bowl of bitter oranges and a sea breeze: Soleil d'Italie is citrus with a peppery, woody backbone.
Six notes crowd the opening, mandarin, Calabrian bergamot, lime and bitter orange sharpened with cardamom and pink pepper, so it fizzes rather than simply squeezes. Bulgarian rose, patchouli leaf and watery notes cool things down in the heart. Guaiac wood, cedar and vetiver dry the base out, with white musk and marine ambergris adding a faintly salty skin-warmth.
Meant for women and men alike, it was made for spring and summer daytimes: long lunches, beach towns, linen shirts. Anyone who wants sweetness will find it too dry. Beside Sicily, it trades pineapple and peach for spice and wood. Citrus fragrances are best judged in actual heat rather than in a store, and a decant can come with you on the next warm weekend.
