About the fragrance
A pod of bourbon vanilla split open on a warm wooden table and dusted with cinnamon: Althaïr is Parfums de Marly’s take on vanilla, polished and a little brighter than you might expect.
Cinnamon and cardamom open it, with orange blossom and bergamot for lift. The heart is bourbon vanilla with elemi, a resin with a lemony, peppery edge. Praline, musk, ambroxan and guaiac wood form the base: sweet, smoky and smooth.
It is listed for men, though many women wear it too, and it is made for autumn and winter evenings. Vanilla lovers will understand it at once; if you dislike sweet scents, the praline base will not change your mind.
It is sold out right now. When it returns, a 5 ml decant is the best way to try it, especially side by side with French Avenue Liquid Brun, which shares nearly all of its published notes and is often compared with it.
