About the fragrance
Spice and leather with a crisp gin-like twist, Journey is one of Amouage's more polished, wearable men's scents.
The opening stacks Sichuan pepper and cardamom over bergamot and neroli, tingly and bright rather than hot. Juniper berry forms the heart, clean and resinous, giving the whole thing an aromatic, slightly boozy clarity. Underneath, cypriol adds a smoky, earthy wood, leather brings structure and tonka bean rounds the finish with a soft, almost powdery warmth.
This woody spicy scent suits fall and winter, office days and dinners alike, for someone who wants refinement more than volume. If juniper and leather together sound austere, it may read colder on you than expected. With two perfumers credited and a lot going on in a short pyramid, it is a scent worth wearing several times from a decant, since the spice and the leather take turns depending on the day.
