About the fragrance
Saffron, green resin and a dark seam of oud give Mercedes Benz Le Parfum a dressier, after-hours character than the rest of the line.
Italian bergamot opens alongside pink pepper and cascalone, a note with a cool, almost marine lift, so the first minutes feel brisk. Violet leaf, saffron and galbanum then build a green, gently spiced heart with a leathery glow from the saffron. The base is the richest of the three Mercedes scents in our catalog: Indonesian patchouli, vetiver and juniper, with oud, ambergris and cedar wood adding smoke and a slightly salty warmth.
Framed for men, it belongs to autumn and winter evenings, dinners and dark suits. As a casual gym-bag scent it misses the point. Set it beside Mercedes Benz Intense to hear the difference: Intense is ambery and smooth, Le Parfum woodier and more shadowed. That comparison is easiest to make with two decants on two wrists.
Notes. Top: Italian bergamot, pink pepper, cascalone; heart: violet leaf, saffron, galbanum; base: Indonesian patchouli, vetiver, juniper, oud, ambergris, cedar wood. Launched in 2015. Perfumer: Olivier Cresp.
