About the fragrance
Wet ink, cold stone and shaded roots: Encre Noire is vetiver taken to its darkest, most concentrated corner.
There is no bright citrus warm-up here. Cypress and vetiver arrive together, smoky and slightly bitter, and the heart doubles down with two vetivers, Haitian and bourbon, one earthier and one a little more rooty and green. Over time musk and cashmere wood soften the profile into something smoother and closer to the skin, though the ink-like gloom never fully lifts.
It is framed for men and fits autumn evenings, black clothes and people who want a fragrance with a strong personality. Fans of sweet or fresh-aquatic scents may find it stark. Compared with the brighter Encre Noire Sport, this is the purist's version. Vetiver this dry reads very differently from wearer to wearer, which is exactly why a few days with a decant beats a blind purchase.
