Pierre-Francois Pascal Guerlain created his namesake French brand in 1828, starting out with personal cleansing commodities and perfumes. He rose to the top of the industry in 1853 when he formulated cologne for Napoleon Iii, followed by perfumes for Queen Victoria and Queen Isabella Ii. The successful business stayed in the family for over 160 years, until the family legacy was finally taken over by Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy in the 1990s. In 2008, the extraordinarily talented Thierry Wasser became the head of the famed brand.
