Original Santal Cologne by Creed, Original Santal is a distinctive men’s scent steeped in the heritage of centuries of perfumery . Created by sixth generation head Olivier Creed and his son, Erwin Creed, who will one day guide this luxury perfume dynasty, this scent pays homage to the spiritual richness and royal splendor of India. As the name hints, precious sandalwood is the center of this scent, around which all other elements slowly dance. Top notes of Indian sandalwood, coriander, cinnamon, and juniper berry provide immediate satisfaction. The olfactory journey continues with middle notes of ginger, lavender, rosemary, and leaves of the absolute orange tree. The warm base of vanilla and tonka bean provides a lingering, satisfying finish.
Creed, a design house now based in Paris, was actually founded in London in 1760. Its first royal commission came from King George III in 1781, for whom this perfumery house created Royal English Leather. Having gained many royal customers throughout Europe, Creed relocated to Paris in 1854 at the behest of France’s Empress Eugenie. This modern masculine fragrance was launched in 2005.
This fragrance goes on LOUD, but it mellows out nicely. It's a little too one-note on me for my taste, but it's not bad.
